Each year the SCSBOA
All-Southern California Honor Groups provide the finest young instrumentalists
in southern California with opportunities to rehearse with some of the most
outstanding music educators in the world.
Eligibility requirements for Honor Groups:
Enrollment in School Music
Groups Participation is limited to regularly enrolled students of a public or
private school who are officially enrolled in that school's performance
organizations at the time of application, acceptance, rehearsal, and performance
of their respective Honor Groups. If a student attends a school where a
performance organization/ensemble is not offered, that student's private
teacher may recommend and endorse that student's application as long as the
private teach is a member in good standing of the SCSBOA.
Grade Level
6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders
may apply for all Middle School Honor Groups with the exception of Junior High
School Honor Jazz which is open to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders.
9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th may
apply for all High School Honor Groups with the exception of High School Honor
Jazz which open to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
9th graders auditioning for a
band or orchestral Honor Groups must choose to audition for either Middle School or High School, but not both.
Other Requirements
Participation is limited to
those students who file properly completed official Honor Group applications
along with the required application fees by the postmark deadline.
Participation is limited to
those students whose directors/teachers are current SCSBOA members in good
standing.
Participation is limited to
those students who can commit to attend all Honor Group rehearsal and
performances without exception.
